Like every year, the 8-digit combined nomenclature that defines customs tariffs within the European Union is evolving to keep pace with the reality of international trade. The 2021 edition, effective January 1, shows that Covid-19 has come and gonemany nomenclature changes concern sanitary equipment (personal protective equipment or medical devices) but also vaccines.
In particular, there are changes and innovations in the following chapters:
Chapter 5: other products of animal origin, not elsewhere specified or included. ★ Changes concern red coral and other corals.
Chapter 28: Inorganic chemicals; inorganic or organic compounds of precious metals, radioactive elements, rare-earth metals or isotopes ★ New products include phosphors.
Chapter 30: Pharmaceuticals ★ New products include vaccines .
Chapter 39 : Plastics and articles thereof, rubber and articles thereof. ★ Face shields and protective visors.
Chapter 44: Wood, charcoal and articles of wood. ★ Changes concern eucalyptus and other woods.
Chapter 63: Other made-up textile articles, assortments, second-hand clothing and rags. ★ FFP and other protective masks.
Chapter 85 : Electrical machinery, apparatus and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles. ★ changes concern laminated sheets and cores, and others.
Chapter 90 : Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision instruments and apparatus; medical and surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof. ★ The changes concern ventilation apparatus, gas masks and breathing apparatus in particular.
