What nomenclatures have changed in the European customs tariff in 2020?

EU Customs Tariff 2020: what’s new

As every year, the 8-digit Combined Nomenclature changed on January 1. The new customs tariff was published in the OJEU (Official Journal of the European Union) n°L 280, on October 31, 2019.

  • The EU Customs Tariff 2020 can be downloaded here on the EUR-Lex website.

The following chapters of the Customs Tariff 2020 contain changes and innovations to customs codes:

  • Chapter 22: Beverages, spirits and vinegar
  • Chapter 37 : Photographic and cinematographic products
  • Chapter 71 : Natural and cultured pearls, precious and semi-precious stones, precious metals, […] including synthetic and reconstructed stones (HS 4 7104)
  • Chapter 85 : Electrical machinery, apparatus and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles
  • Chapter 90: Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical and surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof.
  • Chapter 99 : certain specific codes in the Combined Nomenclature, such as trousseaux, coffins, or goods sent to charitable and philanthropic organizations or for the benefit of disaster victims.
