One person, one vocation
What do you love most about your job?
Every day is different, with the unforeseen and the unpredictable: you have to find solutions, and that gets the adrenalin flowing! The recipe for success is to engage with the right people, and to build good relationships with them.
Why do you work in logistics?
I discovered the supply chain at college, and years later, I’m still learning! New country specificities, products, and above all adapting to the culture of partner agents. It’s a great pleasure to meet and exchange ideas with them at international conferences.
A typical day at CDG office?
There aren’t any! And so much the better. So of course, between two unforeseen events, we work on our regular flows, and I have regular conf calls with agents.
If you had to be shipped out with a package, what would you choose?
I’d love to go away with a motorcycle, the kind of freight Jonathan sends on rallies abroad!
How long have you been with MATHEZ FREIGHT?
I joined MATHEZ FREIGHT in November 2023. I had known this French forwarder for a long time via the WCA network. I’ve worked in various transport specialties before (air, sea, NVOCC, agency opening, expatriation…) and I’ve always enjoyed working on networks. I’m delighted to find that MATHEZ FREIGHT gives me the autonomy to develop a real networking policy!
What is your role as Overseas Network Manager?
My role is to establish solid partnerships with counterpart freight agents to ensure the end-to-end handling of our shipments, anywhere in the world:
- launch and develop our collaborations,
- support operators in finding solutions to the specific needs of our partners,
- develop flows on specific sectors or routes
- Identify, choose and be present on the best networks –WCA and X2 of course, but also Hi tech Forwarder Network, and for our specific products Aviation Logistics Network and Automobile Logistics Network.
How does MATHEZ FREIGHT select its partner agents abroad?
We work first and foremost with the agents in our networks, with whom we have been able to develop trusting relationships. So we can optimize our customers’ flows and manage the difficulties that never fail to arise in the freight business.
Our closest partners have the same DNA as we do: professional, reliable and ethical. This enables us to be fair and efficient in the face of difficulties as well as opportunities.
.We meet a lot of agents at trade shows in trusted communities: we see those who have become friends, but also the friends of those friends, and we can meet new partners for special needs We are pleased to welcome agents who come to Paris-CDG on European tours.
Then, the key to working together is to be available and responsive, to provide urgent answers to operations, offer solutions to every request. When you trust each other, you can call on an agent directly without having to make requests from all directions: you know that he or she works well and at the right price. It’s the opposite of freight exchange platforms!
How do you see the development of freight networks?
We are already part of the best generalist networks, which enables us to set up new sector-based collaborations to ensure the best possible service for our customers worldwide. We won’t be integrating any new networks, except those that are specialized in high value-added segments. With the Aviation Logistics Network, for example, we have significantly increased our AOG and aeronautical business, and our dedicated department gained genuine recognition from specialist players.
We are also closely monitoring the freight digitalization. There’s no point in having a technology platform without a community, but technology does make operations more fluid between the right partners.
Why does a freight forwarder choose MATHEZ FREIGHT to monitor its operations in France?
Because we’re good (LOL)! And humble too (re-LOL)!
We’re passionate, flexible. We have 17 branches in France and we offer dedicated services in a wide range of sectors such as transport of luxury luxury vehicles, works of artyachtspharma or temperature-controlled products, wines and wines and spirits… We have a strong expertise in customs and VAT, a Brexit department, another dedicated to fairs and exhibitions…
